Happy Friday! After all of the fun and excitement of the holidays, I’ve been looking forward to a nice relaxing cup of cocoa. However, some mischievous chipmunks had other plans and my cocoa took a nutty twist. With the help of my adorable friends, I’m excited to share Chip & Dale’s Hazelnut Cocoa!

As part of my Christmas sweets, I got a variety of treats from Marks & Spencer and Target’s 2023 Christmas Collection. I really loved shopping at Marks & Spencer during my time in England and am always excited to try their Christmas collection at Target. Similar to last year, at lot of their sweets had a hazelnut filling, which I love, and so I thought it would be a perfect pairing for my chipmunk friends.

One of my favorite things about cocoa is that it can be as simple or as complicated as you’d like. I’ve had amazing cocoa that’s made by melting chocolate bars and I also love Swiss Miss packets. A couple years ago, my dad got me a milk frother for Christmas and it’s made making cocoa super easy and even more delicious.

For this cocoa, you can go more complicated or keep it super simple. If you’re feeling adventurous, you could melt down some chocolate chips, mix together some cocoa powder with sugar, or just open a pack of your favorite store bought cocoa mix. For my cocoa, I used the Marks & Spencer hot chocolate mix from Target. It had a great deep chocolate taste and blended perfectly with the Monin’s Hazelnut Syrup that I added.

To make the cocoa, first place 8 ounces of milk into the pitcher of a milk frother, small saucepan, or microwave safe mug. If you’re using a milk frother on the hot chocolate setting, follow the instructions for your frother. Add a packet or desired amount of cocoa mix and a tablespoon of hazelnut syrup when directed. If you’re using a saucepan or microwave, heat the milk until it’s steaming, but just under a boil. Stir in a packet or desired amount of cocoa mix and a tablespoon of hazelnut syrup.

Once the cocoa is ready, pour it into a mug and top with marshmallows, whipped cream, or chocolate shavings. Using a super cute mug collection from Zak Designs, I made a bit of a hot cocoa bar. I included some marshmallows and chocolate hazelnut cookies and chocolate truffles from the Marks & Spencer collection.

Enjoy Chip & Dale’s Hazelnut Cocoa! Happy Winter!
