My family is one of those Disney families. As a little girl, I watched every movie, spent hours playing with my Disney figurines, and lived in my Snow White dress. After our first trip to Disney World, my love for Disney only grew. Since I can’t be at Disney all the time, I try to bring a little bit of Disney magic to my everyday life. I’m excited to share these treats with you!

Mickey Mouse Rice Krispie TreatOne of my favorite Disney treats is the Mickey Mouse Rice Krispie. With its chocolate dipped ears, there’s nothing more delicious to snack on while exploring the parks (except maybe a Mickey Mouse ice cream bar). My mom and I love them so much, we usually end up with a good sized stockpile over the course of a trip. Luckily, these treats are easy to make and a great way to feel a little bit of Disney magic at home.

Cutting Rice Krispie TreatsFor this recipe, you’ll need a couple special tools. The first is a large Mickey Mouse cookie cutter. The one I used is made by Disney, but can be found on Amazon. The second is a double boiler. Although you can melt chocolate using the microwave, I generally find it’s easier to control how the chocolate melts when using a double boiler. One last thing you’ll need for decorating is sprinkles. I used Mickey Mouse sprinkles that were a gift from our last Disney cruise, but any colorful sprinkles will do.

Happy Baking!

Mickey Mouse Rice Krispies

A taste of Disney World at home!

Course Dessert
Prep Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 45 minutes
Total Time 1 hour
Servings 9 Rice Krispies

Ingredients

  • 3 Tablespoon Butter
  • 10 oz Regular Size Marshmallows
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies Cereal
  • 1 cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
  • 1 cup White Chocolate Chips
  • Sprinkles

Instructions

Rice Krispies:

  1. In a large pot, melt butter over low heat. Once butter has melted, add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat.
  2. Add cereal to marshmallow mixture. Stir until well coated (it helps to coat spatula in a little bit of cooking spray).
  3. Using spatula, press mixture into baking sheet (covered in cooking spray or wax paper). Once spread out, spray cookie cutter with cooking spray and cut out the krispies. Move cut out krispies to second baking sheet covered with wax paper.

  4. Decorate! If you would like krispies with sprinkles but no chocolate, make sure to put the sprinkles on before the krispie cools.
  5. If coating in chocolate, leave krispies to cool while you prepare the chocolate.

Chocolate Dipped Ears:

  1. Fill large pot halfway with water and bring to a boil (I used my electric tea kettle to boil the water while I made the krispies and then just added it to the pot). Once water is boiling, turn to low heat.
  2. Place double boiler piece or small pot inside large pot and add the semi-sweet chocolate chips. Do not let water get into the chocolate or it will freeze up.
  3. Melt the chocolate, stirring with rubber spatula until smooth.

  4. Use rubber spatula and/or flat frosting spatula to cover ears in chocolate.

  5. Once covered, add sprinkles before chocolate sets.

  6. Place krispies on wax paper and let chocolate set. Krispies can be kept in the fridge, just allow them to come to room temperature before eating.
