Happy Friday! While Valentine’s Day is technically next week, I’m getting a little bit of a head start with Mickey & Minnie’s Sweetheart Brownies! Whether you’re celebrating with a special someone, friends, or just by yourself, I’ve always felt Valentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to enjoy a decadent treat! These rich chocolate brownies are topped with a fudgy chocolate frosting and some M&M Mickeys!
For these brownies, I actually used my Copycat Disneyland M&M Brownies recipe. They’re quick and easy to make and are a deliciously rich chocolate brownie. To add a little Valentine’s Day flair, I made them in free-standing heart shaped baking cups, which I found at Target. I also added a Mickey pattern using regular and mini size M&Ms.
To make the brownies, sift together the sugar, cocoa powder, and salt in a medium bowl. Pour in the butter and mix until combined. Add the vanilla extract and the eggs, one at a time, mixing after each addition. Add the flour and mix just until combined. Stir in the mini chocolate chips.
Place four heart shaped baking cups on a baking sheet. Divide the batter between the four cups, using a spatula to spread out the batter in the each cup. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Transfer the brownies to a wire rack to cool completely.
To make the frosting, combine the cocoa powder and butter in a medium bowl. Add the powdered sugar and the milk and beat on low speed until combined. Stir in the vanilla extract. Frost the brownies using an off-set spatula. Place red regular and mini sized M&Ms onto the top of the frosting to make a Mickey pattern.
Enjoy Mickey & Minnie’s Sweetheart Brownies! Happy Valentine’s Day!
