Although summer is coming to a close and some schools have already started, the weather is still warm and the sun still stays out a bit later than usual. Growing up, one of my favorite things to do on a warm summer night was enjoy a popsicle on the back porch. While I no longer have a porch to sit out on, I still love how refreshing a popsicle is on a hot summer day or warm summer night.
In thinking about popsicles, I immediately thought of Zootopia and the adorable pawpsicles that Nick sells. While his business is not really on the up and up, I love the idea of paw shaped hamster sized popsicles and was inspired to make these human sized pawpsicles. Packed with real strawberries and touch of lemon, these adorable pawpsicles are a fun and refreshing summer treat!
These pawpsicles are super easy to make and can be made with your favorite frozen fruit. I chose strawberries since the pawpsicles in Zootopia are red and strawberry is one of my favorite frozen flavors. To make the pawpsicles, combine all of the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. If you’re using fruit with large seeds or skin (cherries, etc) make to strain the mixture before putting it into the molds. The mixture should be somewhat thick but still easy to pour.
To make the paw shape, I used these paw shaped silicone popsicle molds. Since this recipe makes four, you’ll want to make sure you have enough of the molds. Once the mixture is in the molds, freeze for at least 4 hours.
When you’re ready to serve, pop the pawpsicles out of the molds and enjoy!
