Happy Friday! It’s almost Christmas and I’m getting ready with Mickey’s Christmas Tree Brownies! Shaped like a Christmas tree, these decadent chocolate brownies are topped with chocolate fudge frosting, sprinkle lights, and mini M&M Mickey ornaments!

These brownies are perfect for anyone craving chocolate! Given their tree shape, they are quite large, and since they are very rich, you might need to share a serving or eat one in two sittings!

To start, make the brownie batter by combining the the sugar, cocoa powder, and salt in a medium bowl. Pour in the butter and mix until combined. Add the vanilla and the eggs, one at a time, mixing after each addition until they’re fully incorporated. Add the flour, and mix until just combined.

Divide the batter into free standing baking cups. For these, I used some tree shaped baking cups from King Arthur Baking. I used the small version, but right now it looks like they only have the large version in stock. You could also use metal or silicone tree shaped pans or other shapes.

Since the tree shaped baking cups were larger, this recipe makes two trees. If you’d like more, you can double it, or you can use smaller tree shapes. If you do use smaller shapes, just check them sooner when they’re baking as they won’t take as long to bake.

Place the baking cups on a sheet pan and bake the brownies at 325 F for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Once baked, transfer them to a wire cooling rack to cool completely.

For the frosting, place the cocoa powder in a medium bowl and stir in the melted butter. Add the powdered sugar and milk, and beat until well combined. Stir in the vanilla.

To assemble, place a large spoonful of frosting onto the top of each brownie. Use an offset spatula to smooth the frosting. For the decorations, I used melted white chocolate to make the string for the lights, Wilton lights and ornaments candy sprinkles, and mini M&Ms.
