The new Christopher Robin movie comes out today and I can’t wait to see it this weekend! I’ve previously mentioned my love of Winnie the Pooh and his Hundred Acre friends and I’m excited to see what how this new story brings them to life. To get ready for the premiere, I made these super cute donuts inspired by Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, and (my favorite) Eeyore.

These baked donuts are easy to make and melt in your mouth. To make the round donut shape, I used a silicone donut mold but any kind of donut pan is fine. If you do use a silicone mold for this recipe, make sure to put them on a baking sheet before baking. I hadn’t used a silicone mold for baking before and I was pleasantly surprised at how easy they were to use and how great the donuts looked when they came out!

To decorate my donuts, I made simple vanilla and chocolate glazes. I decided to use a different colored glaze foreach character, and so added a little gel food coloring to the vanilla glaze. For the Pooh and Piglet donuts, I added sprinkles right after they were glazed. For the Tigger donut, I added stripes with the chocolate glaze, and for the Eeyore donut, I added a small pink bow to represent his tail using the leftover pink glaze.

Whether you’re looking for a fun weekend breakfast or an anytime sweet snack, these are the perfect treat!

Instructions

Donuts

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F and spray donut pans with cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, and nutmeg together. Set aside.
  3. In a small bowl, combine egg, brown sugar, milk, and sour cream. Mix until smooth. Stir in melted butter and vanilla.
  4. Combine the egg mixture and the flour mixture. Do not overmix.
  5. Transfer the batter to a piping bag or gallon size bag with a corner cut off. Pipe batter into the greased donut pans, filling each about ⅔ of the way full.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  7. Cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. While donuts are cooling, make the glaze.

Glazes and Decoration

  1. For Vanilla Glaze: Whisk powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk in a bowl until reach desired consistency. Glaze should be thick, but still able to run off the side of the whisk. Divide into 4 bowls and add desired food coloring. Keep covered until ready to use.
  2. For Chocolate Glaze: Whisk powdered sugar, cocoa powder, vanilla, and milk in a bowl until reach desired consistency. Glaze should be thick, but still able to run off the side of the whisk. Pour into a piping bag or gallon bag with a small cut in one corner.
  3. Decoration: Dip donuts into bowls with glaze and add or smooth glaze with the edge of a spoon or an icing spatula. For Pooh and Piglet donuts add sprinkles before glaze sets. For Tigger donut, after glazing, pipe stripes using the chocolate glaze. For Eeyore donut, use the leftover pink glaze to pipe or freehand a small bow.
  4. Let dry completely before enjoying.
