In December, my family and I took a Disney Cruise to celebrate my dad’s birthday. We love visiting Disney at Christmas. Whether in the parks or on a cruise, everything seems just a bit more magical! We had an amazing time on the Disney Dream traveling to the Bahamas and, of course, Disney’s Castaway Cay! Since it was in December, the entire ship was decorated for Christmas. There were also special Christmas themed activities, and the characters had Christmas outfits.

There are a lot of things to love about a Disney Cruise. One of my favorite things to do is sit and look at the ocean, especially as the sun is setting. Given all of the fresh fruit on the ship, I decided to try my hand at a smoothie bowl!

Inspired by the view from a ship’s portal, this creamy banana blueberry smoothie bowl is topped with fresh blueberries and an orange Mickey sunset!

Smoothie bowls are super easy to make. They’re basically smoothies, but are creamier than traditional smoothies as there is no ice or juice. To me, the texture is somewhere between smoothie and frozen yogurt. It’s a super refreshing treat that’s great for breakfast, afternoon snack, or a light dessert.

There are two parts to this recipe, the actual smoothie bowl and the fresh fruit toppings. Since the bowl is best when cold, I started by prepping the fruit for the toppings. First, I cut a large orange into slices to make the bottom part of the sunset. Then, I used a small round cookie cutter to cut out the circles for the Mickey ears. The blueberries are ears, just wash and dry them. Place all of the fruit into the refrigerator to chill while you make the smoothie.

To make the smoothie, combine all of the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. If it feels too thick, you can add an extra splash of milk. Once blended, divide into two bowls. Use the back of spoon to smooth the top of the smoothie.

Place the large orange slice in the center of the bowl and add orange circles to the top of the slice to make Mickey ears. Gently place the blueberries below the orange slice to make the ocean. Grab a spoon and enjoy!
