Happy Friday! This week San Fransyoko Square opened at Disney’s California Adventure. This new area is themed after the movie Big Hero 6 and features new decor, food, and characters! I’m excited to share this fun treat inspired by one of my favorite characters from the film — Baymax! This Baymax Iced Hot Chocolate is a rich chocolate drink topped with sweet cream cold foam and a Baymax design.
Over the past few months, I’ve been seeing an increase in iced hot chocolate offerings. As someone who doesn’t drink coffee and loves hot chocolate, I was excited to give this new drink a try. I really enjoyed the rich chocolate mixed with cold milk and felt it would be a fun drink to make at home and add little bit of character to with the addition of Baymax’s face!

This drink has a couple components — the hot chocolate and a sweet cream cold foam. Start by making the hot chocolate as it can rest while you make the cold foam. For this recipe, I used my milk frother (on different settings) to make both the hot chocolate and the cold foam. If you’re looking for a good milk frother and hot chocolate maker, I definitely recommend it!
If you don’t have a full milk frother, you can make the hot chocolate as you normally would and then use a handheld electric milk frother or electric beaters to make the cold foam. Some also use a clean french press.
To make the hot chocolate, first fill a tall glass with ice and pour 3.5 ounces of milk over the ice. Make sure to use a larger glass so that everything fits!
Then, pour 4.5 ounces of milk into the milk frother. Follow hot chocolate instructions to make the hot chocolate in the milk frother. For this hot chocolate, I used some of my favorite hot chocolate flakes from Hotel Chocolat. These flakes are pieces of chocolate that melt in the milk frother to create a really delicious hot chocolate. I used their Milky 50% Chocolate Flakes, but I also love their Salted Caramel and Chocolate Orange flavors. Since their hot chocolate is not as sweet as a lot of the hot chocolate powder mixes, it pairs really well with the sweet cold cream.
Once the hot chocolate is ready, pour it into the glass with the milk and ice, stirring gently to combine.
Next, make the sweet cold cream by combining the heavy cream, milk, vanilla, and sugar in a measuring cup. Stir to dissolve the sugar.
Transfer the mixture to the milk frother and use the cold foam setting to make the foam or use a handheld milk frother to froth the mixture in the measuring cup. Pour and spoon the cold cream on top of the iced hot chocolate.
Finally add the Baymax design by holding a Baymax stencil over the top of the foam. To make my stencil, I used my Cricut machine to cut out the stencil. Since it’s just Baymax’s face, it just needs two round eyes and a horizontal line to connect them. Gently shake some cocoa powder over the stencil using a small mesh sieve.
Enjoy this Baymax Iced Hot Chocolate!
