I love milkshakes. They are one of my favorite ice cream treats and I thought they’d be perfect to combat this wave of warm weather we’ve been experiencing. While I usually prefer chocolate shakes, I recently re-watched 101 Dalmatians and was inspired by their white fur with black spots. And so, I’m excited to share this toasted marshmallow milkshake with chocolate spots!
While I used to think milkshakes were something you only got at an ice cream shop or restaurant, they’re actually very fast and easy to make at home. For this milkshake, you’ll want to make the base with a vanilla ice cream, milk, a touch of vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt.
To get the toasted marshmallow flavor, first broil the marshmallows in the oven until they are nice and toasted. They should have a nice golden brown toast on the tops. Make sure not to burn them as the burned flavor will make the milkshake taste off. Once the marshmallows are toasted, add them to the vanilla base and blend until smooth.
To add the Dalmatian spots, I painted a little bit of chocolate syrup onto glasses and let them chill in the freezer. Since the chocolate syrup can be runny, I found it best to pre-chill the glass in freezer and place it back in the freezer to chill after painting each side.
Once the glasses were chilled and the chocolate dots were frozen, I poured in the milkshake and topped with whipped cream and a couple of leftover toasted marshmallows.
I hope you enjoy these cute and easy to make treats!
