Preheat the oven to 350 F. Line a muffin pan with cupcake liners. Set aside.

In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and matcha powder. Set aside.

In a separate bowl, combine the milk, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and egg.

Add the milk mixture to the flour mixture and beat until combined.

If desired, stir in the white chocolate chips.

Pour batter into the prepared muffin pan, filling each cup ½ to ⅔ full.

Bake for 15-17 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool for 3 minutes in the pan before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
